Golf in Spain and Portugal continue to be the number one golf destination for the golfing tourists and many golfers have either bought or are looking to buy a property on or near to a golf course in Spain or Portugal.

Golf in Spain offers Sun, Sea, sand and quality courses with the lengthily Mediterranean coastline being packed with phenomenal golfing possibilities which makes Spain the ideal golfing Country with over 500 golf courses. With near all year round sunshine it is especially popular in Southern Spain from the Costa Blanca to the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands.

The Costa del Sol is home to the highest concentration of courses in the whole of Europe. The 160 Kilometre stretch of coastline from Nerja in the east to Manilva in the west is home to over 50 Golf courses all of which are in ideal locations in which to enjoy this great sport. It is also home to the World famous Valderama Course which is host to the Andalusian Masters on the European Tour while Finca Cortesin holds the Volvo Matchplay.

A another region of Spain which is also very popular amongst golfers is the Costa Blanca. The Costa Blanca is blessed with a spectacular micro-climate, which is a major part of its popularity with golfers; the spectacular coastline benefits from more annual hours of sunshine than just about anywhere else in continental Europe. The region is made up of three provinces; together Valencia, Alicante and Castellon and boast some outstanding golf resorts and courses.

There are a great selection of golf courses on offer in the Costa Blanca including their first course, Villamartin, was inaugurated in 1972 and which was host to the 1994 Mediterranean Open which was won by 2012 Ryder Cup Captain José Maria Olazabal. Since then many more have been created and more recently as 2010 Las Colinas de Campoamor opened and has fast become one of the best golf courses in Europe which hosts the European Tour Q School.

Portugal is a quality golf destination with over 80 outstanding golf courses within the country. Great weather, breathtaking scenery, sea views and excellent service is just a few reasons why Golf in Portugal ranks highly with the Golfer.

The main golfing hot spots in Portugal is undoubtedly The Algarve with over 40 Golf Courses and The Lisbon Coast which was elected best European Golf Destination in 2007 by the IAGTO org. The Lisbon Coast offers real diversity with the famous Praia d’el Rey Golf Course and Estoril Golf Course in the West Region just two of 10 quality Golf Courses within a 20 Minute drive. The Algarve is without doubt one of the best Golf Destinations in the World with over 40 courses to choose from with all year sunshine including the famous Vale de Lobos.

Playing golf in Portugal can be very challenging, with the beautiful views of the Atlantic and the sparkling seascape you may have ocean breezes to contend with. Golfers love Portugal because of the clement weather that lasts for months, the variety of terrain and the quality of the courses. Designers such as Rocky Roquemore, Frank Pennink and Robert Trent Jones have all designed courses here. Even if you play one of Portugal’s truly demanding courses, it’s impossible to feel any stress in the idyllic surroundings and easy-going pace you’ll find here.
